Takabonerate at the end of October 2009 formally made the provincial marine tourism icons of South Sulawesi names Takabonerata Islands Expedition. Another advantage of Takabonerate is the clarity of water. Without diving, just off the boat, tourists can enjoy the beautiful panorama of coral reefs that have been identified as many as 261 species from 17 families and dances among coral reef fish.

Plus marine biodiversity of this region has enough variety of coral reefs, fish, coral, seagrass, makroalgae, molusca, and other marine biota. In this area also found three categories of coral reefs, the barrier reef, the coral reefs, and atolls. Spreading consists of 49 coral genus, with a range of live coral cover among 36.72 to 64.02% within the category of moderate to good.
